Swiss firm Patek Philippe opens its first boutique in Barcelona in collaboration with Union Suiza, reinforcing its presence in Spain with a new space located at number 111 Passeig de Gràcia. The boutique, situated on the ground floor of the prestigious Mandarin Oriental Residences building, features 300 m² distributed over two floors and is located right in the heart of the Jardinets de Gràcia.

Patek Philippe New Boutique in Barcelona

“We wanted this boutique to be integrated into the life of Barcelona and not conceived solely as a destination for international visitors. The location in the Jardinets responds precisely to that desire for proximity to local clients, to be part of the city’s daily pulse, and to consolidate a close and lasting relationship with those who share our passion for haute horlogerie”

Mario Giménez, General Manager of Patek Philippe Iberia

The new space has been conceived as a fusion between the aesthetic universe of the Genevan Manufacture and the architectural and artistic identity of Barcelona. Noble materials such as maple or Indian rosewood coexist with direct references to Catalan modernism, particularly visible in the large mosaic that welcomes visitors and interprets the visual language of Antoni Gaudí. The piece was commissioned from Barcelona-based artist Pierre Mesguich, who developed a proposal inspired by the Cerdà Plan, considered the world’s first orthogonal urban plan and a precursor to urban models later adopted in North American cities. Through intersecting geometric shapes, the mosaic symbolises balance and harmony, two concepts closely linked to Patek Philippe’s aesthetic codes.

One of the central elements of the boutique is the sculptural staircase that connects both floors, bringing a sense of movement and lightness to the space. Its metallic balustrade dialogues with the marble finishes and soft lighting to create an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere. This same decorative motif is reproduced in various elements of the interior design, including the sliding door that separates the bar area from the space destined for private experiences and exclusive meetings. Reinterpreted through textured coloured glass, the design generates interplays of transparency and reflections that bring depth to the whole.

The boutique also houses various reproductions of Dome clocks belonging to Patek Philippe’s Rare Handcrafts collection, a showcase of the Manufacture’s artisanal savoir-faire. For one of the VIP rooms, French sculptor Thierry Martenon was commissioned to create a wooden artwork inspired by Antoni Gaudí, crafted in natural spruce and conceived exclusively for this space.

The choice of Barcelona to host one of Patek Philippe’s main boutiques in Spain also responds to the Manufacture’s close historical connection with the city. For decades, the firm’s Iberian subsidiary has been headquartered in Barcelona, the city from which the brand has traditionally coordinated its activity in the Spanish and Portuguese markets and which continues to be Patek Philippe’s operations hub for the Iberian Peninsula today.
