Panerai Luminor Marina PAM01707: High-Tech Carbotech Meets 1960s Heritage

| |

Florentine watchmaker Panerai once again blends its most iconic aesthetic architecture with advanced material science with the launch of the new Luminor Marina PAM01707. This model takes the unmistakable 44 mm case and lever-operated crown-protecting bridge to craft them in Carbotech, a high-performance carbon fiber composite that delivers a technical aesthetic alongside a lightweight feel on the wrist.

The PAM01707 echoes the visual codes of the 1960s and early naval instruments by omitting the date display, resulting in a pure matte black sandwich dial highlighted by vintage beige Super-LumiNova details.

Carbotech Case: Lightness and Unique Pattern

The use of Carbotech is the centerpiece of this model. The material is manufactured by compressing thin sheets of carbon fiber at high pressure and controlled temperature alongside PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone), a high-performance polymer that reinforces the composite. The result is a structure 64% lighter than titanium and 80% lighter than steel, offering remarkable mechanical resistance and protection against marine corrosion.

Due to the cutting process of the composite material, every single case exhibits a unique, uneven matte grain pattern. Featuring a 44 mm diameter and a total thickness of 14.5 mm, the entire watch weighs approximately 100 grams. The screwed closed caseback and trapezoidal pin buckle are both crafted in DLC-coated titanium.

Sandwich Dial and In-House P.9010 Calibre

The matte black dial adopts the brand’s signature sandwich construction, emitting a green glow in the dark through its cutouts filled with beige Super-LumiNova. Positioned at 9 o’clock, the small seconds counter serves as a historical nod to military commandos, who relied on it to instantly confirm the watch was running under extreme diving conditions.

Beating inside is the in-house P.9010 automatic calibre, measuring 6.0 mm in thickness and assembled from 200 components and 31 jewels. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), it delivers a 3-day (72-hour) power reserve supplied by two series-connected barrels. It includes a stop-seconds mechanism for precise time setting and an independent quick hour-adjustment feature by one-hour jumps.

The timepiece ensures a water resistance rating of 30 bar (~300 meters), individually tested with an additional 25% safety margin. It comes fitted with a brown vintage calfskin leather strap with beige stitching and includes an additional black rubber strap alongside a screwdriver for changing the buckle.
