MB&F SP One Pavée: Kinetic Art in 38 mm Sculpted in White Gold and Diamonds

| |

Following the launch of its «Special Projects» line with the SP One, MB&F introduces the new SP One Pavée. Sculpted in 18k white gold and set with 255 diamonds, this piece embraces the manufacture’s signature three-dimensional architecture, floating three key elements —the barrel, the balance wheel, and the inclined dial— within a frame of light and pure geometry.

Sculptural White Gold and 255 Diamonds

The SP One Pavée retains the organic 38 mm pebble-shaped case architecture that defined the original model. Instead, it dresses the curves of its case, bezel, crown, and buckle with a meticulous setting totaling 1.608 carats. To contrast the brilliance of the gems and 18k white gold, the hour dial adopts a deep dark blue shade in place of the black finish seen in previous executions.

  • Sculptural Case: 38 mm diameter and 12 mm thickness, engineered without a traditional bezel and fitted with domed front and back sapphire crystals.
  • Decoupled Lugs: Extending from the bottom section of the case, creating a subtle gap that emphasizes the floating sensation on the wrist.
  • Inclined Dial: Positioned at 6 o’clock with a dark blue PVD finish, driven by a high-precision conical gear mechanism.

Mechanical Architecture: Suspended Triad

The construction of the in-house SP One movement revolves around three elements of identical circumference suspended within an «amphitheater»: the barrel at 10 o’clock, the floating balance wheel at 2 o’clock, and the inclined dial at 6 o’clock. By concealing fixings and bridges beneath these components, the watch creates an illusion of complete weightlessness under its sapphire dome.

72-Hour Power Reserve & 18,000 VpH

Comprising 189 components and 31 jewels, this motor operates at a traditional frequency of 2.5 Hz (18,000 vph). It features hand-finished details, rhodium-plated bridges, and conical gearing to transmit power to the inclined dial seamlessly.

Pros & Cons

PROS

  • Harmonious Proportions: 38 mm diameter and 41.9 mm lug-to-lug for exceptional wrist comfort.
  • High Jewelry Complication: 255 diamonds (1.608 ct) integrated smoothly into the organic lines of the case.
  • Visual Drama: The suspended triad creates a striking three-dimensional floating effect beneath the sapphire crystal.

CONS

  • Exclusive Orientation: The diamond setting limits its versatility mainly to formal dress or gala occasions.
  • Water resistance is limited to 30 meters (3 ATM).
