44 mm Scale and the Revival of the Unitas Caliber
Moving away from the standard 35 mm and 40 mm sizes that define the PRX line, this special edition expands the stainless steel case to 44 mm in diameter. This commanding physical presence responds to the space requirements of the chosen mechanism: the historic hand-wound ETA 6497-1 (Unitas) caliber.
A mechanism inherited from mid-20th-century pocket watches, the movement has been deeply skeletonized to expose its gear train, bridges, and balance wheel beating at a traditional 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz). Its finishes alternate brushed grey tones with thermally blued screws, delivering a 46-hour power reserve.
Personal Symbolism and Burgundy Accents
The design pays tribute to the basketball player’s universe through a color code centered on the burgundy / maroon shade, featured on the inner bezel framing the dial, the small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock, and the straps. The seconds sub-dial integrates Lillard’s personal monogram with the “Dame Time” inscription, a detail that is repeated as an engraving on the side of the case.
Baton-style hands and applied hour markers feature Super-LumiNova coating to ensure nighttime legibility over the intricate, openwork movement structure.
