TAG Heuer Monza Flyback 50th Anniversary: Forged Carbon Limited Edition

| |

Fifty years after its debut to celebrate Niki Lauda’s first World Championship title with Ferrari in 1975, the TAG Heuer Monza returns to the racetrack. Ahead of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, the La Chaux-de-Fonds manufacture reveals the new TAG Heuer Monza Flyback Chronograph 50th Anniversary, a strictly limited edition of 500 numbered pieces combining the brand’s historic heritage with cutting-edge forged carbon architecture.

42 mm Forged Carbon Case: Performance and Lightweight Engineering

Structurally inspired by the modern saga reinterpretation introduced in 2023, this new Monza adopts a 42 mm cushion-shaped case crafted in forged carbon. Recognized in modern motorsport for its high resistance and lightweight properties, forged carbon features a unique marbled pattern, making each of the 500 timepieces aesthetically unique.

The case is paired with a fixed forged carbon bezel, black DLC-coated steel pushers, and a carbon crown at 3 o’clock. On the reverse side, the black DLC-coated grade 2 titanium caseback surrounds a sapphire crystal and features the limited-edition engraving (XXX/500). The watch ensures a water resistance of 100 meters (10 bar / 10 atm).

Matte Black Dial with Racing DNA and Combined Scale

The matte black dial pays tribute to the original 1976 Heuer Monza. Signature red accents highlight the central chronograph hand and the 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock. The permanent seconds indicator with a white hand sits at 6 o’clock, while the angled date aperture is positioned at 9 o’clock. Black and white lacquered hour and minute hands are treated with Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility.

Emphasizing its instrumental character, the black flange incorporates a combined tachymeter and pulsometer scale, honoring historical track timing functions. The timepiece is fitted with a perforated black calfskin leather strap with red stitching, evoking classic 1970s driving gloves.

In-House TH20-12 COSC Flyback Calibre

Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback is the in-house TH20-12 movement, COSC chronometer-certified. This automatic movement features a Flyback function, allowing the timing sequence to be reset instantly with a single push of a button without stopping it first—an essential complication for measuring consecutive lap times.
