On July 21, 1969, humanity took its very first steps on the lunar surface. To honor that monumental milestone in space exploration, Swatch and OMEGA have joined forces once again to reveal one of the most exclusive releases in their collaborative history: the MoonSwatch MISSION TO THE MOON 1969.
Strictly limited to 1.969 individually numbered pieces, this edition introduces a material never seen before in the core lineup: 11 grams of 18K OMEGA Moonshine™ Gold.

11 Grams of Lunar History and Recycled OMEGA Heritage
The inclusion of gold in this release is far more than a decorative choice—it is a deeply historic homage. The dial, crown, pushers, and main hour and minute hands are all crafted from 18K OMEGA Moonshine™ Gold.
A Fascinating Production Secret: The precious metal used across this 1,969-piece run originates directly from vintage OMEGA spare parts, melted down in-house specifically to forge the Moonshine™ Gold for this collection.
The exact weight of the precious metal—11 grams—serves as a direct reference to the Apollo 11 mission. Furthermore, the dial’s vertical brush finish pays tribute to the solid gold Speedmaster that OMEGA created back in 1969 to celebrate the success of the moon landing.do vertical se inspira en el famoso Speedmaster de oro que OMEGA lanzó en 1969 para celebrar el éxito del alunizaje.

Vintage Aesthetics Meet Modern Contrast
Visually, the timepiece presents a bold contrast between the warmth of solid gold and the stealthy, matte black finish of its 42 mm Bioceramic case:
- Vertically Brushed Dial: Features period-accurate vintage typography and logos for OMEGA x Swatch, Speedmaster, and MoonSwatch.
- Protected Tachymeter Bezel: The black Bioceramic bezel displays a golden tachymeter scale sealed under a protective anti-scratch coating for a glossy finish.
- Mission-Themed Battery Cover: On the caseback, the battery cover features a golden lunar disk with an anti-scratch coating, inscribed with the landing date (July 21, 1969) and the iconic footprint left in the Sea of Tranquillity.
- Individual Numbering: Each chronograph is laser-engraved with its unique serial number (from 1/1969 to 1969/1969) on the side of the case at 9 o’clock, finished with a subtle touch of gold lacquer.
- Lunar-Textured Strap: Secured via a black rubber strap with a VELCRO® closure, featuring a golden underside textured to mirror the lunar landscape.

How to Get One: The Digital “ESTA” Application
Instead of traditional boutique queues, Swatch is releasing this limited edition via a 100% digital application process called the ESTA (Electronic Swatch Timepiece Application):
- Online Application: Interested collectors must answer a 32-question form hosted on
swatch.com. - Timeframe: Applications open on July 16 at 15:32 CEST and close on July 21 at 23:59 CEST.
- Selection: Only 1,969 applicants will receive Swatch’s approval to purchase the watch.
- A Historic Price Point: The watch retails for 500 CHF. Rather than reflecting today’s gold market, Swatch calculated this price based on what 11 grams of gold cost on July 21, 1969 ($11 USD, or approximately 48 CHF at the time).
