RAYMOND WEIL Freelancer World-Traveller: A Centenary Tribute to a Visionary with GMT and Worldtimer

| |

RAYMOND WEIL celebrates a double anniversary of deep emotional and historical significance with the launch of the new Freelancer World-Traveller. Coinciding exactly with the 100th anniversary of the birth of its founder, Mr. Raymond Weil, and as part of the celebrations marking 50 years of independence for the Geneva-based Maison, the brand unveils a commemorative edition limited to just 260 pieces that combines GMT and Worldtimer complications in an invitation to travel without borders.

1976–2026: Homage to the Traveling Spirit of Its Founder

Born on October 10, 1926, Mr. Raymond Weil was a bold entrepreneur and aviation enthusiast who traveled the globe to establish his independent watchmaking brand in Geneva during the height of the quartz crisis. For him, traveling was never a mere logistical necessity, but a philosophy rooted in discovering new cultures, fostering human relationships, and building enduring bonds across generations.

Under the direction of his grandson and current CEO, Elie Bernheim, the Freelancer collection—created in 2007 to embody the freedom to carve one’s own path—becomes the natural canvas to honor this centenary legacy. Priced at EUR 4,395 / CHF 3,995, this limited series pays tribute to that international vocation by replacing the traditional brand logo with Raymond Weil’s own handwritten signature, applied via decal onto the dial.

Embossed World Map and Triple Time Zone Display

The stainless steel case of the Freelancer World-Traveller measures 40 mm in diameter with a slender thickness of 10.25 mm, featuring a refined blend of brushed and polished finishes. Protected by a dual-sided anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the intricate three-part dial seamlessly manages three simultaneous time zones:

  • Central World Map: Champagne-colored continents with topographic relief created through stamping and laser texturing, inspired by the Mercator projection against a deep midnight blue oceanic backdrop.
  • 24-Hour & Day/Night Ring: Intermediate scale in champagne tone for daytime hours (6:00 to 18:00) and midnight blue for nighttime hours (18:00 to 6:00).
  • 24-City Worldtimer Bezel: Outer midnight blue ring connected directly to the fluted rotating bezel, allowing instant alignment of the selected city to read world time zones at a glance.
  • GMT Indication & Luminosity: Red-outlined GMT hand with white Super-LumiNova® for quick second time zone reading, accompanied by applied nickel-plated indices and tonneau-shaped hands emitting a green glow.

RW3230 Automatic Movement with 56 Hours of Power Reserve

Beating inside the Freelancer World-Traveller is the RW3230 mechanical self-winding caliber, equipped with a GMT complication and providing a robust power reserve of 56 hours. The movement is visible through the sapphire crystal exhibition case back, engraved with the commemorative inscription “World Traveller”. Water-resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM), the timepiece is fitted with a navy blue calfskin leather strap with matching stitching and a stainless steel folding clasp with a double-push security system.
