IWC Schaffhausen renews its partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team by introducing a bold new iteration of its iconic aviator chronograph. The new Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Edition «Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team» (Ref. IW388121) adopts a striking sunray-finished purple dial, paired with signature PETRONAS green accents and a lightweight Grade 5 titanium case.
Designed to mark the upcoming night race at the Singapore Grand Prix on the Marina Bay Street Circuit, this timepiece trades traditional technical black for a vibrant shade inspired by the country’s national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid—a symbol of resilience and innovation.
Grade 5 Titanium & High-Contrast Purple Dial
The case retains versatile proportions with a 41 mm diameter and a 14.5 mm thickness, crafted entirely from brushed Grade 5 titanium with polished bevels. Widely used in Formula 1 for engine components and the Halo safety system, titanium offers an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and supreme wrist comfort. The dial is protected by a convex sapphire crystal secured against sudden air pressure drops.
The standout feature is the rich purple dial with a sunray brush finish. High-contrast PETRONAS green accents highlight the numerals, hour markers, and hands with luminescent coating for optimal legibility under artificial track lighting. It preserves the classic vertical sub-dial layout, a day-date window at 3 o’clock, and a water resistance rating of 100 meters (10 bar) courtesy of a screw-in crown.
In-House Caliber 69385 & The Fourth Team Watch Chapter
Beating inside is the in-house automatic IWC Caliber 69385, a classic column-wheel chronograph movement visible through the sapphire crystal case back. Operating at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), it delivers a power reserve of 46 hours via a bidirectional pawl winding system decorated with Côtes de Genève.
This release marks the fourth official team watch created for Brackley, following the original 2022 titanium chronograph (Ref. IW388108), the 2023 Ceratanium performance edition (Ref. IW388306), and the 2025 Mark XX (Ref. IW328210). The watch comes fitted on a purple rubber strap equipped with IWC’s EasX-CHANGE quick-release system.
