DOXA SUB 300 Ti5: Grade 5 Titanium Returns to the Permanent Collection

| | ,

Almost sixty years after revolutionizing recreational diving with the launch of the original SUB 300 in 1967, DOXA writes a new chapter in its technical history with the official return of Grade 5 titanium to its permanent collection. The new DOXA SUB 300 Ti5 evolves the brand’s iconic cushion case using a material that is 40% lighter than stainless steel and significantly more resistant to marine corrosion. The series debuts in seven distinct execution options covering the brand’s historic colors alongside a striking Whitepearl dial fully coated in Super-LumiNova.

Grade 5 Titanium: Ergonomics and Technical Performance

Integrating Grade 5 titanium into the case, crown, and screw-down caseback responds directly to the pursuit of maximum ergonomic comfort during extended wear. Thanks to its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, chemical inertness against saltwater, and natural biocompatibility, the SUB 300 Ti5 drastically reduces perceived wrist weight without sacrificing the structural rigidity indispensable in a professional diving instrument.

Its case retains the classic dimensions of 42.50 mm in width by 45.00 mm in length and an overall thickness of 13.40 mm, topped by a glass box domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. It keeps intact the signature unidirectional rotating bezel patented by DOXA, whose dual-scale engraving links dive depth in feet with the non-decompression limit times established by the US Navy.

🌊 Whitepearl Full-LumiNova Dial

Luminescent in Marine Darkness

Among the seven versions presented, the Whitepearl variant stands out by featuring a dial entirely coated in Super-LumiNova. While showing a pristine white surface by day in contrast with the matte grey tone of the titanium, in low light or underwater dimness the entire dial illuminates to offer an instant, mesmerizing reading of dive times.

Seven Variants and COSC-Certified Calibre

The SUB 300 Ti5 lineup displays the signature colorways of the Swiss brand: the unmistakable orange Professional, black Sharkhunter, deep blue Caribbean, cherry red Red Coral, and two executions for the white Whitepearl (paired with either a white or black rubber strap). All models are delivered with the new Dive Flex rubber strap featuring a “Tissé” woven style texture and pin buckle.

Mechanically, each unit is powered by a Swiss automatic movement (Sellita SW200-1 base) backed by official chronometer certification from COSC. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), integrates 26 jewels, and provides a power reserve of approximately 38 hours, ensuring precise performance under demanding operating conditions.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Case, crown, and caseback crafted in Grade 5 titanium, offering exceptional lightness, durability, and high resistance to seawater corrosion.
  • Automatic mechanical movement with individual chronometer certification issued by COSC.
  • Inclusion of the stunning Whitepearl variant featuring a fully luminescent dial.

Cons:

  • The 38-hour power reserve reflects traditional standards for 4 Hz movements.
  • The cushion case’s 42.50 mm diameter can create visual misperceptions regarding its actual dial proportions.
