In the universe of haute horlogerie, there are milestones that change the course of history, and then there is the patent of 7 Messidor Year 9 (June 26, 1801). On that day, Abraham-Louis Breguet received official protection for his most momentous invention: the tourbillon regulator. In 2026, Manufacture Breguet commemorates exactly 225 years of a complication that defines not only its DNA, but that of the entire contemporary watchmaking industry.
The insatiable quest for precision led Breguet to devise a system capable of defying the laws of Earth’s gravity. Today, under the direction of Gregory Kissling, the maison pays tribute to this eternal legacy with a selection of exceptional timepieces that intertwine historical mastery with 21st-century innovation.

The Origin of a Chronometric Revolution
Upon his return to Paris in 1795 following his exile in Switzerland, Abraham-Louis Breguet revolutionized the discipline with memorable patents: the “sympathique” clock, the subscription watch, and the constant-force escapement. However, the “tourbillon regulator” became his crowning achievement.
The fundamental principle: Aware that gravity altered the frequency of the regulating organ (balance wheel and hairspring) when the watch remained in a vertical position—common in pocket watches—Breguet enclosed the escapement inside a mobile cage that rotated continuously. By “shuffling” the vertical positions, the detrimental effects were continuously compensated for, achieving unsurpassed average precision.

1. Breguet Classique Tourbillon 7357: Optimized Historical Essence
Directly inspired by the mythical Ref. 3350 of 1989—the house’s first contemporary-era tourbillon wristwatch—the new Classique Tourbillon 7357 stands as a refined technical evolution. Equipped with the new Calibre 187B (derived from the historic Cal. 558), it is presented in exclusive executions of Breguet gold and platinum, enhanced by a dial with meticulous hand-guilloché Clou de Paris and Grain d’Orge motifs.

2. Classique Tourbillon Sidéral 7255: An Astronomical and Mysterious Link
In the 17th and 18th centuries, the term “tourbillon” possessed an astronomical connotation linked to planetary systems of circular rotation. The Classique Tourbillon Sidéral 7255 embraces this meaning with a stunning Grand Feu enamel dial in black aventurine with green highlights, faithfully recreating the Paris night sky at midnight on June 26, 1801.
This piece introduces the flying tourbillon supported only by its lower bridge, combined with a mystery display where the cage’s connecting gears become invisible thanks to the use of sapphire crystals with anti-reflective treatment.
- Movement: 30 mm manual-winding Calibre 187M1, signed and numbered.
- Frequency: 2.5 Hz (18,000 vibrations per hour).
- Limited Edition: 50 hand-engraved and numbered pieces.
- Case: 38 mm 950 platinum with the caseback decorated with the “Quai de l’Horloge” guilloché motif.

3. Tradition Tourbillon 7047: The Meeting of Two Geniuses
The Tradition 7047 model masterfully unites the Breguet tourbillon with the fusee-and-chain transmission system detailed by Leonardo da Vinci at the end of the 15th century. To ensure constant torque as the barrel unwinds, the chain (capable of withstanding 6 kilos of traction) wraps around a conical element whose circumference varies to compensate for the diminishing force.
This exclusive limited edition of 25 pieces is dressed in a bold Bleu de France that permeates the Palladium 210 gold dial with Grand Feu enamel, the bridges, and the titanium tourbillon cage itself. As a detail of absolute chromatic coherence, the traditional ruby on the tourbillon shaft has been replaced by a fine blue spinel. The mainplate, for its part, features a sandblasted finish in a glacier blue tone.

4. Marine Tourbillon Équation Marchante 5887: Scientific Chronometry
Appointed Horologist to the French Royal Navy by King Louis XVIII in 1815, Breguet applied his genius to high-precision navigation. The superb Ref. 5887PT merges three grand complications: a one-minute tourbillon, a perpetual calendar, and a running equation of time. The latter allows for immediate and simultaneous reading of civil mean time and true solar time, thanks to an additional crystal hand featuring a gold solar motif.
Its sapphire dial displays a hand-painted miniature in luminescent enamel that comes to life in the dark, projecting the constellations of the Paris sky in 1801. The caseback pays tribute to naval history, showcasing a meticulous hand-engraving of the historic ship Royal Louis sailing the oceans.

5. Expérimentale 1: The Vanguard of Haute Horlogerie
As the crowning glory of the Manufacture’s modern research and development, the Expérimentale collection debuts with the Expérimentale 1, a pioneering timepiece that offers definitive solutions to the three variables of watchmaking precision: escapement consistency, gravity, and shock resistance.
The watch incorporates a 10 Hz (72,000 vibrations per hour) tourbillon with a magnetic constant-force escapement. The ultra-high frequency allows the regulating organ to instantly recover its amplitude after suffering a shock or sudden acceleration, while the magnetic field (based on magnetic pivot patents developed by Breguet since the 2000s) definitively resolves energy variations resulting from the loss of barrel torque. An avant-garde marvel with 18-karat gold bridges and mainplate, strictly limited to 75 pieces.
