H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Minute Repeater Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Cosmic Rain: Acoustics and Light in 20 Exclusive Pieces

| |

High Horology is not only expressed through mechanical mastery, but through the emotions it evokes through sound, movement, and light. The Neuhausen am Rheinfall manufacture, H. Moser & Cie., once again displays an exceptional timepiece with the release of the Endeavour Minute Repeater Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Cosmic Rain.

Housed in an immaculate 40 mm titanium case, this model is presented as a limited edition of just 20 pieces worldwide. A true feat of engineering that merges three spectacular complications: a dial-side minute repeater, a flying tourbillon fitted with a cylindrical hairspring, and a fully skeletonised hand-wound movement.

The Minute Repeater Takes Centre Stage

Traditionally, minute repeater mechanisms conceal their hammers and chimes on the back of the movement. In this distinctive creation, H. Moser & Cie. reverses the rules: the hammers and chimes are revealed directly on the dial side.

This singular construction required master watchmakers to completely rethink the calibre’s architecture to ensure two crucial objectives:

  1. Impeccable acoustic quality when activating the sliding bolt fitted with a runner made from Teflon.
  2. Maximum visibility of the mechanism in action through meticulous three-dimensional skeletonisation.

“Cosmic Rain”: The Artistic Fusion of Aventurine and Mother-of-Pearl

In a break with this mechanical transparency, a small domed sub-dial positioned at 2 o’clock instantly draws the eye with its depth and visual richness. Embodying the Cosmic Rain concept, this miniature dial combines centuries-old glassmaking traditions with fine jewelry marquetry:

  • Fumé Aventurine Glass: Produced using a complex process that traps minute copper crystals inside the glass, recreating H. Moser & Cie.’s signature fumé gradient through multiple firing cycles.
  • Mother-of-Pearl Inlays: Thin mother-of-pearl strips are individually cut, subtly curved, and hand-integrated onto the engraved surface, appearing like a shower of stars trailing across the night sky.

Historical Precision: Flying Tourbillon with Cylindrical Hairspring

To this sonic and visual architecture is added a one-minute flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock. Inherited from 18th-century marine chronometers, the tourbillon is fitted with a cylindrical hairspring that rises perpendicularly around the upper stem of the balance staff.

Its concentric geometry significantly improves isochronism. Hand-shaped using a demanding process by Precision Engineering AG (a sister company of H. Moser & Cie.), each cylindrical hairspring requires a considerably longer production time than a conventional hairspring.
