A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Annual Calendar

A watch in two different finishes that will make you hesitate over which version you like best. Two watches created on the basis of the already well-known Saxonia Annual Calendar, which undoubtedly make this collection even more attractive and contemporary.

The development team at A. Lange & Söhne has also attached great importance to excellent legibility for the SAXONIA ANNUAL CALENDAR. The most important information (time and date) stands out at first glance. The auxiliary dial at 9 o’clock shows the day of the week, while the month is located on the opposite side. The moon, surrounded by the seconds indication at 6 o’clock, makes its journey across a star-filled night.

The precision of the moon phase display is typical of the manufacture’s high standards. It only requires a correction of one day after 122.6 years have passed. The 750 gold moon disc has a dark blue coating on which the 428 stars appear as a miniature representation of the Milky Way. The calendar indication of the SAXONIA ANNUAL CALENDAR is programmed so that at the end of the month it advances correctly to the first day of the next month. In doing so, it automatically takes into account the different lengths of 30 and 31-day months. It only needs to be corrected once a year: on February 28 or 29, if it is a leap year, it must be set to March 1.

As already mentioned, the case is made of white gold or pink gold, both with a size of 36 mm in diameter and a thickness of 9.8mm. Both the front crystal and the display back are made of sapphire.

Inside is a new self-winding manufacture movement. The technical features of calibre L207.1 include a unidirectional central winding rotor with a 950 platinum centrifugal mass and a classic screw balance operating at a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour. The barrel offers a maximum power reserve of 60 hours when fully wound.

True to Lange’s philosophy, all parts of the movement have been assembled twice and laboriously decorated. Contrasting with the understated design of the dial, the view through the sapphire crystal caseback reveals the opulent beauty of Saxon precision watchmaking, whose roots date back to the royal court of the 19th century. Traditional elements such as the hand-engraved balance cock, delicate polishing and finishing, and screwed gold chatons create this historical link from which the name of this model family is derived: SAXONIA.

The strap is made of alligator leather with a gold buckle matching the color of the case.
